I wonder if this is why Disney Channel took their "Early Mickey" program off the air some years ago. This program featured the above-mentioned cartoons. However, it came on around 5:00 in the morning, so it's not like a lot of kids were going to be up watching this.

The Gallopin' Gaucho short, as the title implies, was intended as a parody of Douglas Fairbanks's The Gaucho, a film first released on November 21, 1927. Following the original film, the events of the short take place in the Pampas of Argentina (not Mexico)...with Mickey cast as the gaucho of the title.

Mickey is introduced riding on a rhea instead of a horse as would be expected (or an ostrich as often reported). He soon reaches local bar and restaurant Cantina Argentina.

Sorry about the nitpickery, but, that's Floyd Gottfredson, not Goddfredson. A great unsung artist that rivaled and even surpassed Carl Barks. Evil Mickey was the best Mickey. I'm reading Neal Gabler's great bio of Disney. I highly recommend it.
