Zerothefox: It’s canon that Ash is Red. If you’ve played the very first original games, you would see that. You have Ash, Red, some funky name, then your own when you name your character. Ash=Red. Always has been.

It’s a kids show that started off great, and the writers just wanted to keep on going to make more money. Ash doesn’t look like he ages, but with the change in his voice and pretty much everyones voice tells you that he ages, but who knows their whole logic behind this story. I always thought, and heard, that both Ash and Gary’s dads were killed in a war. Gary has a sister and looks at Professor Oak (his grandfather) as a father figure. Gary wants to be just like his grandpa because he thinks of him as a father figure cause he basically grew up without one. I doubt this whole coma thing is true, but it makes a lot of sense. the spearow ash hits BEFORE the thunderstorm comes back while ash, brock, and misty are on their way to the orange league. that is the episode when his pidgeyotto evolves. If ash recognizes that the fearow is the spearow he hit with a rock, then he could have never been in a coma. Ash and his pickachu wake up probably soon after him and his pickachu were knocked out, and were in viridian city when it was night time. We know this because misty is looking for ash and the setting is at night., and ash is reunited with pikachu in the morning.

by i like your analogy, it is scary of how it actually makes sense, but i can not see that being true.
