Much like steampunk, the creators are aiming for a historical setting with sci-fi or modern elements mixed in.

Consequently, the designs of cars in their two auto plants have not developed much past the style of the Forties.

The cell phones, satellite communications, lasers, et cetera are homemade devices by all the creative heroes and super villains populating the island.
