But, I happened across this YouTube video showing similarities in the editing style between Darren Aronofsky’s Requiem for a Dream (2000) and Genndy Tartakovsky’s Dexter’s Laboratory. Specifically: the 1998 episode “Topped Off” (one of my personal favorites).
Dude, I dig you site, and I understand what it’s about, but this one is too off, too far-fetched, not supported by enough “evidence”. The first half of his videos were split screens, though that analogy between splits screens was terrible, nothing like Requiem for a Dream. Sure it’s filler right now, but I for one feel like it needs to be removed based on the fact that only one tiny part was like Requiem for a Dream. I could find a part of any cartoon that was like any other movie, because styles have to be reused over time. This one is too sketchy for it to even be “Oh that’s awesome” like most of the stuff on your site.
Hey, this was done by a friend of mine! He has a full blog entry to go along with it, over yonder.
While we’re at it, he did an overanalysis of The Wizard of Oz as Atheist propaganda.

I disagree. I think it was totally awesome.
I disagree.!
